about
this is not a photo of me lol
hey, i'm ethan.
together with my boyfriend, i call seattle home. welcome to my pocket notebook.
i created this site to have a place where i wasn't limited by any single platform. i can write and share without thinking of the constraints of instagram or twitter or substack; if there's a new format i want to play with, i can built it here. Everything here is a work in progress.
i'm drawn to the idea of curating the things that are important to me in one spot. to put them in conversation with one another. to be forced to reflect on what, exactly, is important to me.
likewise, i like the idea of an archive that i can easily maintain for the rest of my life. goodreads, letterboxd, instagram etc cannot be trusted to exist in 50 years. if i'm to put real thought into writing, i want those thoughts to stick around with me.
finally, i miss the old internet communion of strangers over shared interests, and its ruthless committment to self expression. we've lost some of that.
